Hospital Bookings

MollyOnce you have had your consultation and surgery is indicated then you will be given a booking form for the appropriate hospital. This booking form must be lodged with the hospital as soon as possible.

Private Hospitals

Prince of Wales Private or Kareena Private Hospitals

If you are booked into either of these hospitals the date of your childs surgery will have been allocated during your consultation with Dr Henry. The Hospital will contact you before 7pm of the first working day prior to your admission (i.e. Friday before a Monday list or Thursday before a Friday list) to instruct you on fasting time for your child and what time to come to the hospital. If you have any questions in regards to the hospital procedures please ask the staff when they contact you.

If you have not received the call from the hospital and are concerned please contact Prince of Wales Private on 9650 4000 or Kareena Private on 9717 0133.

Public Hospitals

Sydney Children's Hospital

Once your booking form has been received the hospital will confirm your child's place on the waiting list, this usually by mail. The actual date of surgery is usually allocated by phone with 2-3 weeks notice usually given, though in some circumstances you may be offered a place with shorter notice. Please contact the hospital on 9382 1447 or 9382 1448 between 3.30 - 4.30pm the day before your child's admission date for instructions on fasting times for your child and what time to come to the hospital. If you have any questions in regards to the hospital procedures please ask the staff when they contact you.

As this is a major children's teaching hospital there are guidelines for the scheduling of surgery and if a more urgent case needs to be done then your child's operation may be cancelled at short notice (regardless of private/public status). Should this happen the operation will be rescheduled and you will be notified of another date. We appreciate this is inconvenient however the urgent nature of some children's illnesses makes this an issue. We thank you for being understanding should this happen to you.

The Sutherland Hospital

Once your paperwork has been received the hospital will allocate a date and book a pre-admission appointment for you. At this appointment you will be given the relevant information in regards to fasting times, arrival times and general hospital procedure. As this is a public hospital there are guidelines for the scheduling of surgery and if a more urgent case needs to be done then your child's operation may be cancelled at short notice (regardless of private/public status). Should this happen the operation will be rescheduled and you will be issued with another date.
